Johannes Bergmark

SOOLO concerts

On Sunday 6 March at 5pm the renowned Swedish experimental musician Johannes Bergmark, capable of making even salad leaves resonate, will perform in the Tallinn Art Hall as part of the SOOLO concert series.

Johannes Bergmark is a Stockholm based sound artist, improviser and piano master who works with electro-acoustic music, experimental self-made instruments, sound sculptures and installations. His performances resemble surrealist puppet theatre, where amplified objects, which at first glance do not seem to belong to the world of musical sound, are characters: old tools, kitchenware, clocks, springs, decorative kitsch etc. Using contact microphones, Johannes Bergmark skilfully brings out the acoustics, dynamic scale and special timbre.

As a freelance musician, Bergmark often performs at music and art events, gives lectures on electro-acoustic music and workshops on how to make experimental musical instruments. He wants to introduce people to a world that values traditional knowledge, skills, inspiration and the element of surprise.

Johannes Bergmark is an active member of the experimental art society Fylkingen (http://www.fylkingen.se/), Electronic Music Studio (http://www.elektronmusikstudion.se/), the Swedish Sceptics’ Association Vetenskap och Folkbildning (http://www.vof.se/) and the group The Surrealist in Stockholm (http://www.surrealistgruppen.org/).
