Liis Viira

On Sunday 9 October at 4pm Liis Viira will perform her lo-fi live composition project “Liz Wirestring” for harp and loopers in the Tallinn Art Hall as part of the concert series SOOLO.

“Liz Wirestring” is an underground lo-fi live composition project for harp and loopers. Hiding behind the pseudonym of Liz Wirestring is the harpist and composer Liis Viira. The project is created to oppose the standards of the music world, where a quality finished product and its reproduction is valued above all else. So in a way, the looper project Liz Wirestring is a laboratory and underground of experimentations and errors. All of Liz Wirestring’s pieces are created live.

Liis Viira is a composer, harpist and improviser, who, in addition to music, has also created animations and is interested in interdisciplinary work. Liis had created solo and chamber pieces, but also music for bigger collectives like chamber choirs and symphony orchestras. She plays harp in the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra and in the band Una Corda. As an improvisation musician, she initiated the solo project named Liz Wirestring, where she uses loopers alongside the harp.
