SOOLO: Robert Jürjendal

On Sunday, 31st of May at 16:00, we will share here and on our YouTube channel a concert featuring Robert Jürjendal and his mysterious guitar! Part of the SOLO concert series, recorded at Tallinn Art Hall inside the exhibition“Endless Story.”

 

Robert Jürjendal is an Estonian guitarist and composer whose work spans from harmonious chamber and choral music based on traditions to experimental progressive rock intertwined with electronics and ambient jazz as well as film and theatre music.

 

He has collaborated with numerous Estonian and foreign artists: Tõnis Mägi, Riho Sibul, Weekend Guitar Trio, Fragile, UMA, Suurõ Pilvõ, Siiri Sisask, Strand Rand, Iris Oja, Liis Viira, Mari Jürjens, Madis Metsamart, Anti Jürjendal, Tim Bowness, David Rothenberg, Petri Kuljuntausta, Jon Durant, Miguel Noya, Paul Godwin, Arve Henriksen and many others. He has also written commissions for the Tallinn Guitar Quartet, Una Corda, YXSUS Ensemble, Resonabilis, Ellerhein Girls’ Choir, Chamber Choir “Head Ööd, Vend” and Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir.

Jürjendal has participated on around 60 albums, including his solo albums Rõõmu allikas / Source of Joy (2013), Balm of Light / Valguse Palsam (2015), Lihtminevik / Simple Past (2016) and Rännak Rõõmu Allikale (2014, with Jaan Tammsalu).

 

Among his recordings from recent years are: Another World (2018) with bass guitar player and producer Colin Edwin, Five Seasons in collaboration with an ensemble of Danish and Estonian musicians (2018), LP Sõida tasa üle silla with V. Mikita, K. Kirikmäe and Mixed Choir K.O.O.R. (2019), ambient projects Samliku and The Power of Distance with Venezuelan and U.S. musicians (2019) as well as Echolocation IV and Echolocation V with Hungarian musicians Sandor Szabo and Balazs Major (2019).
