SOOLO/ Tuule Kann
On 20 December at 4 pm, Tuule Kann will perform joyful Christmas music on kannel at Tallinn Art Hall!
Tuule Kann is a well-known Estonian kannel musician and teacher. She has studied kannel with Els Roode in Estonia and Regina Tamošaitene in Lithuania and complemented her skills with Ene Lukka, Mikk Sarve and Igor Tõnurist in Tallinn (1990–1993) and Minna Raskinen, Sinikka Kontio, Timo Alakotila, Raoul Björkenheim and others at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki (1993 and 1998–1999). Tuule Kann has worked as a teacher of kannel and traditional music in Tallinn, Viljandi and Võru; her students include Pille Karras, Leanne Barbo, Juhan Uppin and many others.
She has performed traditional, jazz, early and contemporary music at international festivals both in Estonia and abroad.
Kann has organised the August Pulst anniversary celebrations, kannel courses and music events with masters from Finland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, conducted workshops at traditional music courses and camps (Leisi Värks, Pirrupuusaare Family Camp etc.) and organised the activity of the ensembles Tuulekandled and Kannelkond. Among other recognitions, Tuule Kann has received the Annual Award of folk culture endowment of the Estonian Cultural Endowment (2001) and the Traditional Culture Award (2009).
At her concert in the SOLO series, Tuule Kann will perform kannel music from different eras and countries which resonates with the holiday spirit and anticipation of the new spring.
The SOOLO concerts are organised in collaboration with the Tallinn Art Hall, curator Robert Jürjendal.
